Connector Branch adds to Lowell’s public art scene with new sculpture

Just outside the Enterprise Bank Gorham Street Branch, located at the juncture of Gorham Street and the Lowell Connector, a new addition to the city’s public art scene was installed on July 13, 2018.

Called “Nordic Bloom” by sculptor Patrick Pierce, the piece has been nicknamed “Tiger Lilly” by Enterprise Bank founder and Board Chairman George Duncan. The green and orange flower sculpture is mounted on a stone pillar base located under the iconic “Lowell The Flowering City” sign.

Pierce previously created a sculpted metal lighting fixture that is installed in one of the Enterprise Bank conference rooms at 222 Merrimack Street. He has also created interior signage for Eyeful Beauty, a downtown Lowell beauty salon. A long time downtown Lowell-based artist, Pierce is now based in Saco, Maine.
